"Sometimes I long so much to do landscape, just as one would go for a long walk to refresh oneself... in trees for instance, I see expression and a soul." - Vincent van Gogh, December 10, 1882
I shoot these photographs using a special camera modified to capture the Infrared spectrum of light. Infrared light is all around us on a daily basis but our eyes lack the sensitivity to see it, it's invisible to us, which to me brings home the idea of how limited our perception of reality is. Think about it, your senses are so limited that you can count them with just one hand.
I have always loved the symbolism and surreal quality of these photographs, and each one of them makes me wonder what else is out there, maybe right in front of our eyes, without any of us knowing it.
"I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best." - Frida Kahlo
A collection of self-portraits made over the years, trying to capture my state of mind at the moment. Some of them metaphorical, some of them literal, all of them true.
